Before we actually get into the details of what demonstrations we have and how to use them, maybe we should talk a little bit about the real purpose of demonstrations. The Webster Dictionary states that demonstrations are:

A description or explanation, as of a process, illustrated by examples, specimens, or the like.

       In the science arena, the concept of a demo has evolved gradually to be a visually exciting and stimulating demonstration that introduces the viewer to a simple concept or fact. There are many kinds of demonstrations including:

  • A Gedanken experiment that uses the imagination
  • An observation demo that someone puts on for an audience to view
  • A hands-on demo that provides a quick multi-sensory demonstration of a fact or concept
