In many areas of technological endeavors the need for new materials for uses in such diverse far reaching areas such as medicine, construction, analytical chemistry, membrane mediated chemistry and many many others has forced science to look to natural materials. Nature has been churning out varied and fantastically complex polymers and materials for a long long time and it only stands to reason that mankind should harness these types of things for uses in which synthetic materials are found lacking.
