Impact Strength Test

To measure the impact strength of a wood product typically a falling ball test is used.  A 2 inch diameter steel ball is dropped on a test specimen from a variety of heights.  Each drop is performed at the same point at the center of the board until failure.  Failure in this case is defined as visible rupturing of the opposite side of the board. and then is recorded as the index of resistance to impact.
