Lateral Nail Withdrawl Test

This type of test is a measure of the force required to remove a nail.  The standard way of going about this test is to use a 6-penny nail driven through a board at right angles to the face.  Then the load required to remove the nail in pounds or kilograms is determined.  A similar test measures the force necessary to pull a nailhead through the board.  A similar 6-penny nail is driven through the board and then pulled by the shank and the force is measured upon pulling the nailhead completely through the board.
