Static Bending

In performing static bending tests two properties are typically measure. One is the modulus of rupture and the other is modulus of elasticity.  Basically the modulus of rupture is the maximum fiber stress in the upper most and lower most surface fibers of the sample being tested.  It is roughly the true stress of the material at failure.  This parameter is typically measured in pounds per square inch or pascals.
The modulus of elasticity is a measure of stiffness of a material and is measured in a similar fashion.  Both of these tests are performed perpendicular to the board face.
