Parylene or PPX

Parylene is made from the "monomer" xylylene,
which is formed thermally from the cyclic dimer paracyclophane.

This polymer, parylene, has a variety of unique properties.
It forms conformal coatings from vapor phase deposition of the monomer.
These coatings have excellent barrier properties and chemical resistance.
Other names for this polymer are poly[2.2]paracyclophane and polyxylylene.
