Aramid monomer, p-diaminobenzene

Highly reactive (and expensive) monomer used to make Kevlar
and other high performance polymers.


Very air sensitive and may cause health problems.

Aramids are extremely strong and tough materials (as fibers) used to make
car tires, high performance composites and most important, bullet resistant clothing.
This diamine reacts with terephthaloyl diacid chloride to give Kevlar.
