Trioxane
Cyclic trimer of formaldehyde used as monomer for making the polyether
called polyoxymethylene or POM as it's affectionately known.
POM is also called polyacetal and polyformaldehyde as it can also be made from formaldehyde.
It is highly crystalline, tough and self-lubricating which makes it ideal for use in
small bearings and drawer slides, and in applications where fuel resistance is important.
