Dry Process Hardboard

This method of manufacturing particle board is very similar to the wet process only this lacks the water to form the fibrous mat.  This technology was developed in order to eliminate the waterforming process and that is still the motivation today since there are strict measures monitoring the effluents of such processess.
What is typically done in this process is the chips or other material is mixed with resins and wax and then milled.  This does two things; one is to prepare the fiber to the proper size and the other is to mix the resnis and nay other additives with the fiber.  Mats are then formed with air or other mechanical means.  It must be noted that the fibers in these mats aren't as interlocked as the wet process.  This makes the dryprocessed materials very dependant on the strength of the binder used.
