Above is a TEM picture of a thermoplastic IPN comprised of polystyrene and butadiene. The dark regions are polystyrene stained with osmium tetraoxide. Of particular note is that the morphology of this system doesn't show the level of organization that is usually in a block copolymer (taken from An, J.; Fernandez, A.; Sperling, L; Macromolecules 20, 191(1987)).
