Super Slurper--Experiment:

1. Put on goggles.
2. Use a wooden stir stick to measure out a sample of the sodium polyacrylate the size of a lima bean into a 400 mL beaker.
3. Fill the beaker 1/2 full of water and stir. Observe carefully and describe what you see.
4. Touch the gelled Super Slurper in the beaker and describe how it feels.
5. Place some gelled Super Slurper in a beaker, add a small amount of salt and stir. Observe carefully and describe your observations.
6. Repeat step 4 but use sugar or baking soda. Which gives similar results and which does not?
7. Clean up all products by disposing in the trash.
8. Wash hands.
