Polymers are a major part of what we see and do everyday. Most are not aware of how polymers are used in the medical profession, to make microelectronics, and to build ships, space stations, recording devices and the buildings we live and work in.
Multimedia is a key feature of effective education because it allows us to teach and learn the way we think- in three dimensions and through multiple linkage pathways.
Contests are a way of challenging people to use their creativity in looking at a project. We will use contests to put all of these ideas together to help students "learn by teaching." The contests will require the students to learn about polymers while the also learn about how to make a game of some kind or do an expedition to a local hot-spot of polymer-related activity. The competition will center on who does the best job of creating something useful for teaching others (and incidentally learning lots of stuff doing it).
