Background
In 1995 our research group began developing The Macrogalleria, a site dedicated to polymer education. My contribution to this effort is the development of the Polymer Science Learning Center graphics. Responsibilities include maintenance of current editions and translations on 2 servers, page design and development, and supervision of staff and undergraduate students. I lead the HTML training and coordinate all of the workshops we offer.
The virtual city approach to polymer education allows us to encompass many aspects of polymers and how they relate to the real world. Through Polydelphia's multimedia design, the user participates in self-directed learning. A visitor to the city will find cultural, historical, educational, and recreational facilities commonly found in most cities. While in Polydelphia, do not be surprised to see a playground, movie theater, aquarium, schools, airport, hospital, conservatory and farmland. Those who visit will leave with a new understanding of polymers and how they relate to the real world.
