Polyisobutylene or PIB
Addition polymer of one of the simplest alkenes, isobutylene
Polyisobutylene is one of the most widely used synthetic elastomers in the world.
PIB is one of the polyolefins, a family of polymers containing only carbon and hydrogen.
One interesting property of PIB is its barrier to oxygen transport which is why
its used as the inner liner in tubeless tires.
