      Coatings are virtually everywhere.  Paints, varnish, and clear coats are common types of coatings and are just a few of the many that exist.  A coating is a composite material because of all the ingredients which go into its formulation.  A complete analysis of coatings can be found in the following webpage:

      Several tests are used to characterize the durability of coatings on a substrate (the object the coating is placed on).  I'm sorry, but not all of the analysis requires demolition of a sample.  Please select tests from the table below and see just what data can be seen with and without degradation of the coating.
